ablative treatment for mineral wool panels

“GB-MFS” is an insulating coating designed to improve, seal and protect mineral fibres from fire. It is based on a durable polymer system with inert fillers, non-halogenated fire-retardant additives and a preservative to resist microbial attack. “GB-MFS” has been designed to be spray-applied directly onto mineral fibres. Once the coating is dry, a durable, flexible white surface is obtained. The ablative paint “GB-MFS” reduces the delamination of the mineral wool and increases the stability of the surface. The insulating properties of the coating make it resistant to flame spread and protect the mineral fibres from fire. They significantly reduce the permeability of the mineral fibre core of the panel, preventing the passage of hot gases, reducing the temperature rise on the side not exposed to the fire and the consequent conduction of heat through service shafts. Mineral fibres coated with “GB-MFS” are used to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through openings in fire-rated walls and floor slabs, especially where the openings are made to allow the passage of services. The “GB-MFS” system makes it possible to maintain the acoustic performance specified in the design.
