- Characteristics
- Single-component water-based product capable of slowing down the charring process of wood by creating an insulating foam. Suitable for the protection of structural elements in solid or glulam timber with fire resistance up to R 90. (An analytical calculation is always required to determine the fire resistance according to the type of wood, the resisting sections and the applied loads. Consult the Technical Department). Thanks to its transparency, the natural surface of the wood remains visible, while at the same time significantly increasing fire resistance. The product is intended exclusively for indoor use. The intumescent system consists of single-component water-based F62 WOOD and the solvent-based protective finish F62 WOOD FINITURA. The wood can be stained with a water-based impregnating stain with F62 FONDO).
- Dilution
- 5÷10% by weight with water (for roller or brush), 0÷5% by weight with water (for airless/aircoat). Stir the product slowly both before and during use, so as to ensure a homogeneous consistency and avoid excessive air entrapment.
- Tools
- Spray: airless or aircoat without filters with 0,029 - 0,035 inch nozzles (0,75 - 0,90 mm) and outlet pressure of 170-240 bar. Short-pile roller, brush.
- Application method
- Check that the wood is clean and free from grease or resin stains and that its moisture content is between 8 and 10%. The product is highly sensitive to humidity and may cause hazing. Do not apply at temperatures below +10°C, relative humidity above 65% or in fog or rain. If the product has been stored at low temperatures, bring it to at least +15°C. Application over water-based impregnating agents for wood (F62 FONDO) does not cause adhesion problems provided the quantity applied is not such as to form a surface film, which would compromise the adhesion of F62 WOOD. It is recommended to wait at least 48 hours before overcoating the F62 FONDO impregnating agent with F62 WOOD, to allow it to dry completely. If the wood has already been treated with other impregnating agents, before proceeding with the treatment it is advisable to apply the product to small areas to check the compatibility of F62 WOOD with any impregnating agent present. Please note that greater thicknesses of applied product or different environmental conditions may lengthen the stated drying times, as water evaporation is slowed down. Adequate ventilation promotes water evaporation and good drying.
- Painting system
- - Sand with 150-grit paper; - (optional) Apply F62 FONDO in a single layer at a consumption of 100-120 g/m2. Wait 48 hours before overcoating with F62 WOOD. - Apply F62 WOOD in 2/3 layers at intervals of 4 ÷ 6 hours, at 300 g/m2. - After 24 hours apply one layer of F62 WOOD FINITURA at 50 g/m2. Tools must be cleaned with hot water. Painted areas must not be handled with bare hands, to avoid the possible formation of stains. F62 WOOD FINITURA CHARACTERISTICS Single-component solvent-based transparent product designed to preserve over time the moisture and abrasion resistance characteristics of F62 WOOD. F62 WOOD FINITURA must be applied 24 hours after the application of F62 WOOD. Application: 50 g/m2. DILUTION F62 WOOD FINITURA is ready to use. If necessary, dilute with 0÷5% by weight with VD100 white spirit. Tools must be cleaned with white spirit or nitro thinner.
