- Characteristics
- Single-component water-based product capable of slowing down the charring process of wood by creating an insulating foam. Suitable for the protection of structural elements in solid or glulam timber with fire resistance up to R 120. (An analytical calculation is always required to determine the fire resistance according to the type of wood, the resisting sections and the applied loads. Consult the Technical Department). Its white finish makes it suitable for all types of environments, while at the same time significantly increasing fire resistance. The product is intended exclusively for indoor use. The intumescent system does not require protective finishes.
- Dilution
- Dilute with 0 - 5% water.
- Application
- Mix the contents of the container to obtain a homogeneous paste. F62 WOOD-WHITE can be applied by roller, brush or spray. In the latter case use an Airless pump: - Tips from 15 to 23 (larger sizes may be used only for large surfaces) - Pressure 10 ÷ 20 MPa For Airless application, remove all filters from the pump and the gun. Store unused material in tightly closed containers. After use, clean tools with water; it is good practice to rinse tools periodically during the day.
- Coverage
- Max. consumption per single coat: 1,5 kg/m2 equal to 750 μm dft (for spray application). In the case of Airless application, allow for 20% waste.
- Application method
- Check that the wood is clean and free from grease or resin stains and that its moisture content is between 8 and 10%. The product is highly sensitive to humidity and may cause hazing. Apply at temperatures between +10°C and + 30°C. Do not apply at temperatures below +10°C, relative humidity above 65% or in fog or rain. If the product has been stored at low temperatures, bring it to at least +15°C. If the wood has already been treated with other impregnating agents, before proceeding with the treatment it is advisable to apply the product to small areas to check the compatibility of F62 WOOD-WHITE with any impregnating agent present. Adequate ventilation promotes water evaporation and good drying.
- Painting system
- - Sand with 150-grit sandpaper; - Apply clear primer F62 FONDO to ensure uniform absorption of F62 WOOD-WHITE; - Apply F62 WOOD-WHITE at 600 g/m2. Clean tools with hot water. Coated surfaces must not be handled with bare hands to avoid possible staining.
- Finish
- For aesthetic reasons, it can be overcoated with F62 FINISH, available in various colours, or with acrylic or chlorinated rubber paints. For applications in aggressive industrial environments, or in the presence of high ambient humidity, and to increase its surface resistance characteristics (impact - abrasion), overcoating with two-component polyurethane products is recommended. For information, contact the Technical Department.
- Maintenance
- Periodically check the integrity of the paint film. In the event of damage, clean back to the substrate and restore the protective system in the affected area.
- Packaging and storage
- 20 kg buckets. The product is stable for 1 year if stored in its original containers at temperatures between +5°C and +30°C. Protect from frost. Non-flammable product.
- Warnings
- F62 WOOD-WHITE is classified as Non-Hazardous according to Directive 67/548 EEC and subsequent amendments. Follow the precautions prescribed for the use of products such as water-based paints or wall coatings (work clothing, gloves, etc.). Do not inhale spray mist.
